Time doesth fly...

Right I am going to attempt to summon up the past 7 or so months in one foul sweep! (Or a few posts)  Pictures are not as numerous as before. I put this down to me rushing them for a summer campaign that started in June so I just didn't stop to take progress photos.

Anyway the few Imperial Fist pictures I have have not been added to the blog. 

I finished my Grav amp centurions and the lascannon centurions. Not bad but not as good as my first lot and the lascannon centurions wear really rushed and it can be seen in the quality . I swore never to paint another set of Centurions again at the time. Now though (7 months later) I think I would have another go at these but would not buy them pre built as this is what makes it hard to paint the details well.

I got 30,000 reasons but a boltgun ain't one.

Update on the forces. Managed to grab 6 devastator centurions off of eBay. Done 3 grav amp and 3 las cannons. Just on with painting them now. Also got another Thunderfire cannon. 

I managed to grab a 30th anniversary imperial space marine from my FLGS and the index astartes apocrypha. Really happy with both. As I was a bit of a late comer to Warhammer I really enjoy looking and reading about where and how the space marines began. 

And I am thinking about starting up a 30k army. Now it really would make most sense for me to do an Imperial fists army buuuut I would like to do a different army. Now I first thought I would go with The Thousand Sons. I loved the Horus heresy book and took a shine to them but their rules aren't out yet and after painting a test marine I wasn't too happy with how it came out. Didn't look too good. Then thought I would have a crack at salamanders no particular reason other than liking their attitude and some of their armour looks awesome. Painted a guy up and just got the base colours down then decided against it. The latest attempt was of the world eaters. Needs a little work but so far I think this may be who I end up with. Love the colour scheme.

Land Raiding across the universe!

Aaaand the land raider is done.. Nearly. Just forgot the wax on the purity seals but will do that tomorrow. It's taken me quite a while and I'm happy with how it's turned out have noticed a couple of finger prints on it mind after seeing the photos but will wipe them off. I named it Lysander's Vindicta which means vengeance. For me it's Lysander's personal Wheels so him and his centurion mates can go for a ride in the country together. And should they bump in to any trouble it's mince meat time :D. 

In the photographs it is a redeemer but the weapons are swappable so it can also be a crusader for the extra transport capacity for when I take my chaplain along with Lysander and his homies. 

 I have been experimenting more with pigments and sealing them with a mix of white spirts and varnish. I know it's best to spray varnish to seal but I had a bad experience with the purity seal stuff and am just a bit apprehensive to spray varnish onto a finished model again. 

Next up is my drop pod which has been in the works for donkeys years as well. 

Predator ready sire!

Predator is done and I think I went a little overboard on the pigment and weathering :/

Still it will look decent in a game. 

My navigator came today. Really happy with the miniature I didn't realise when I bought it that it was metal. 

The miniature was from Pathfinder miniatures and it's the Valmarius Elazarin model.

I have attempted to turn him into a navigator. I'm pretty happy with how he has turned out. I made the staff from my bits box. The gun is a shaved down bolt pistol and I drilled out a third eye and added a bit of green stuff for the eye ball. It's not perfect but looks decent for my character Dragos Gideon the insane tainted navigator. 

Whirlwind number 2 finished.

Just finished whirlwind number two. I'm kind of happy with it. I think it's an improvement over the last one still need to have more practice. I have used pigments for the first time on this model around the exhausts. I sealed it with white spirits. Not sure if this is a permanent seal or not may have to varnish it.

Also finished a couple more smoke markers. They're are nothing special but for how simple they are they don't look too bad. 

On another note I had my first go at an RPG on Sunday. It was the start of a rogue trader RPG run by a  really good gm and nice guy from my club. I ended up being an insane and slightly tainted navigator. It was a real good laugh. Unpredictable events made up some great situations. I didnt realise miniature can be used whilst playing and so I looked up navigator and found a nice image. 

So I searched eBay for a sorcerer and after a fair bit of digging found this miniature. 

Not a millions miles off. Should be good if I can pull it off. I shall use a bit of green stuff here and there to attempt to bring it into the 41st millennium. 

It should be here tomorrow so I will get some pictures up then.

Not updated in a while but been plodding along.

Finished my new Techmarine is done. Again poor photo taken on the iPad. It does look better in person I promise. 

I won't be buying a decent camera any time soon but my phone is due an upgrade to an iPhone 6s and so will take them on that in the future (proppa gud fotos!) 

The whirlwind and predator have been base coated with white primer then yellow. Started addin colours to the predator tonight but I'm supposed to have these done for Thursday as this is when then tournament adds another 250. 

Balls to it though I shall slap base colours on and it should be fine to play with then I can crack on. So much to do my wife dispairs at my little plastic toy soldiers. Ha 😀

Emergency brakes on!!

First off land speeder done. 

I'm thinking it might want a little more weathering but I didn't want to over do it so I'll think about it. 

Right I have spent a silly amount of money on these plastic toy soldiers so it's time I hit the brakes a little. My eBay win came, and I got my whirlwind and predator. I have a stupid amount of models to crack on with the now and that's not even including the dark eldar (more on them in a bit.)

So I am going to work on the new whirlwind, Techmarine and predator this month for the tournament. 

I also picked up a dark eldar codex. I really like the dark eldar and since starting up I always had in mind to have a good and bad army so to speak. I love the fluff behind the dark eldar and the models are awesome. They are deadly in close combat too. I managed to win 40 Wyches on eBay (bloody 40! I was silly bidding just because it was on 99p and won them). My idea is just a small army to start with but it will be a few months off yet. I shall practice my technique on these Wyches. 

And last and pretty much least completely unrelated  I came home to this the other day

My wife bought a bloody dog!!! Oh well least it's tiny.....

Moar Men Needed sir!

I have been on eBay again and managed to snag an auction containing:

1 Commander (captain)

2 tactical squads

2 scout squads

1 command squad

1 assault squad 

It also came with a Kr multicase. I was really pleasantly surprised with the quality of this case. I had pondered over these before and came to the conclusion that the asking price for the Kr cases are way too much for what is essentially a cardboard box. That said after receiving this whilst it is cardboard it's really dense and feels nice and sturdy. I would defiantly consider getting another in the future. 

I have been watching a few air brushing techniques on YouTube and decided to give a high and low light technique a go. I took a model previously sprayed with yriel yellow all over. I then sprayed from below averland sunset then from above with flash gitz yellow. I'm so far happy with how it's turning out.  Have a photo it's not the best but you get the idea. 

Assault Centurions done!

Finally finished my assault centurions. My wife bought me these as an early Christmas present at the start of December I think. 

Next up is the land speeder

My pictures are pretty poor looking at them. Not really surprising as I have been taking them with iPad and htc one m8 which has a shocking camera. 

Going to look at getting a better set up for my photos.

Sentinels of Terra

I have just got the sentinels of terra supplement for the imperial fists. 

I know it will be old news but I have not looked at this before. Not sure I like the change of Lysander's warlord treat from Iron Resolve (feel no pain) to Champion of Humanity (12" of Lysander must re roll morale, pinning and fear tests). I read that the only effected rules from the supplement to 7th edition were with some mission rules but that unfortunately isn't the case. This change is going back 6th edition Lysander. Which I'm not wanting at all. 

Not like Lysander is be all and end all in an army but he is a monster of a man in a game. 

Close combat bolster drill looks interesting re roll all failed to hit at half range. 

Will have a better look later on. Looks to be some nice fluff in it too.
